Original CD Of "Love on the Line" in s jewel case box.
Love on the Line includes "Yellow Datsun", a duet with Dar Williams. "East Longmeadow" looks at suburban life, commuting to work in a station wagon and trying to get back home again. "Paranoid" is an anthem to fear. The title track "Love on the Line" is about a couple that marries during a conference call.

The cd features studio help from some of the finest musicians in New England including mandolin wiz Kevin Lynch and guitarist Jeff Pevar (of David Crosby's band CPR), Chris Haynes on piano and accordion, Richard Downs on tuba and bass, and many others. “Click and Clack” on NPR’s CarTalk played many of the songs and "Peugeot" was featured on Car Tunes Volume 1: Disrespectful Car Songs.

Singer-songwriter Peter Lehndorff laces his thoughtful compositions with acerbic wit. The sharpness of his humor is only matched by the crispness of his backing musicians. Together, they paint a wry portrait of modern life with all its absurdity intact. – Editor's Pick, 2006: Download .com

Tom Lehrer with chops. – WESU fm, Ohio

Imagine John Prine type songs played with a Leo Kottke delivery. Lehndorff’s songs are filled with the kind of wry humor that leaves you by turns, guffawing at life and nodding with recognition. Standouts are Yellow Datsun, featuring Dar Williams, and East Longmeadow, a suburban sendup that builds to a perfect punch-line. Paranoid will leave you saying “me too!” to at least some of the catalog of fear. – Music Matters Magazine

about

This song was an anniversary present to my late wife Kathy many years ago. I still have that couch but it's been fixed.

lyrics

Oh Babe (I just found some gray hair)
©Peter Lehndorff

Oh Babe. I just found some gray hair.
(Right here about my ears).
Am I getting older?
Am I drinking too much beer?
I hope you’ll still love me in 50 years.
I hope you’ll still love me in 50 years.

Oh babe, you’re lookin’ mighty fine.
Standing at the top of the stairs.
You wore that dress on a date
We had 5 years ago.
It looks better on you now than it did before.
It looks better on you now than it did before.

Remember that big snowstorm
We had a year ago.
You and###B me we just stayed in
And listened to the radio.
We never had much money.
We never owned a house.
We always paid our taxes
And sat on a broken couch.

Oh Babe, it’s time to go to sleep.
Let’s turn out the lights and the old TV.
We’ll get up and we’ll go to work,
We’ll both have busy days.
And tomorrow I might get paid.
And tomorrow I might get paid.

No, we never had much money.
We never owned a house.
We always paid our taxes
And sat on a broken couch.
But someday we’ll climb a mountaintop
And build a house of snow.
You and me we’ll both stay in
And listen to the radio.

Oh Babe. I just found some gray hair.
(Right here about my ears).
Am I getting older?
Am I drinking too much beer?
I hope you’ll still love me in 50 years.
I hope you’ll still love me in 50 years.
I hope you’ll still love me in 50 years.
